Rennes triumphed 4-3 at Brest in a sensational Breton derby that delivered seven goals and arguably the match of the Ligue 1 season. Esteban Lepaul's brace from the penalty spot proved decisive as the visitors spoiled Brest's 75th anniversary celebrations.
Aït Boudlal opened the scoring for the hosts after just four minutes, but Ludovic Blas (16') and Lepaul (35', penalty) flipped the game before half-time. The second half was chaos — Dina Ebimbe (57') pulled Brest back into it before Breel Embolo (63') restored Rennes' cushion. Labeau-Lascary (70') made it 3-4, but Lepaul converted a second penalty on 75 minutes to seal it. A late Ajorque goal was disallowed in stoppage time, denying the hosts a dramatic equaliser.
The victory lifts Rennes to provisional sixth, level with Lille and Lyon in the race for European football. Lepaul now sits joint-top of the Ligue 1 scoring charts with 16 goals.
