Lens demolished Angers 5-1 at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis to provisionally reclaim top spot in Ligue 1. Odsonne Édouard stole the show with a brace as the hosts tore apart the league's strugglers in a ruthless Matchday 27 display. Florian Thauvin opened the scoring on 13 minutes before teeing up Édouard for the second just twelve minutes later. Mamadou Sangaré then smashed in a spectacular long-range effort on 39 minutes to make it 3-0 at the break. Édouard grabbed his second three minutes into the second half before Lanroy Machine pulled one back for Angers on 62 minutes. Matthieu Udol completed the rout with an acrobatic finish on 72 minutes — his first ever Ligue 1 goal. The result lifts Lens two points clear of PSG, who still have two games in hand. For Angers, it was another bruising evening in what has been a painful campaign.
