Match Report
Ten-man Palace beaten at Tottenham and drop into relegation zone
Tottenham beat Crystal Palace 2-0 at home on Saturday, and the game was shaped by the 13th minute. Referee Michael Oliver first showed Jean-Philippe Mateta a yellow card for a late, studs-up slide on Micky van de Ven's Achilles, then changed it to a red after a VAR review.
Archie Gray made the extra man count in the 25th minute, getting free at the back post to head in a Mohammed Kudus corner. Jan Paul van Hecke added the second in the 73rd minute. His own header came back off the post and he bundled in the rebound.
It was a third straight league win for Tottenham, who failed to win any of their first six games. They are now eighth, and it is their first run of three wins in a row since February 2025. Van Hecke called Roberto De Zerbi "a top manager" and said there is more to come.
Palace have lost three league games in a row and sit third from bottom. Pressure on Pierre Sage is growing, and Mateta now misses the games against Liverpool, Coventry and Hull.
