Switzerland vs Canada

Switzerland opened the second half in devastating fashion at BC Place in Vancouver, with Rubén Vargas striking just one minute after the restart to break a scoreless first half. The Swiss went on to win 2-1, securing top spot in Group B in the process. Vargas opened his account at the 46th minute, assisted by Johan Manzambi, who then helped himself to a second Swiss goal at 57', set up by Breel Embolo. Canada responded with spirit, and substitute Promise David pulled one back at 75' to set up a tense finale. The encounter had an early edge: both Granit Xhaka and Cyle Larin were booked simultaneously in the 31st minute, though no red cards followed. Switzerland march through as group winners, while Canada, despite the defeat, advance as runners-up and will face their Round of 32 test in Los Angeles.
