St. Mirren vs Rangers

St. Mirren host Rangers on Saturday night, the third meeting of the two clubs this season. I could not confirm the current table, but in early September St Mirren were third, level on points with Rangers and ahead on goal difference. Rangers won the League Cup tie 5-1 on 16 August and have not lost to St Mirren in their last five meetings in all competitions. St Mirren last beat them in February 2025. Their own form was mixed in the early weeks: a 3-3 home draw with Motherwell after trailing 2-0, a 1-2 defeat to Celtic, then a 1-0 win at Kilmarnock through Fraser Taylor. They had also conceded 10 goals in four competitive games. Rangers arrived in that fixture on three straight league wins, at Aberdeen and Falkirk and at home to Motherwell. Under Danny Rohl they had won 14 and lost one of their first 21 league games by March. Our prediction: 1-2
