Match Preview

There's extra spice in this bottom-six clash as former St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson makes his first return to the SMiSA Stadium since swapping Paisley for Pittodrie last month. Both sides are scrapping near the foot of the table — the Buddies sit tenth on 27 points, with Aberdeen three points better off in ninth. St Mirren carry momentum after Miguel Freckleton and Liam Donnelly fired them to a 2-1 win at Falkirk — their first away victory since September. Aberdeen are in freefall, winless in eight league games, and still bruised from a 4-1 hammering at Ibrox. Both camps have injury headaches, with the Dons missing five players including Nicky Devlin and Tom McIntyre. Earlier meetings this season have been dramatic — a stoppage-time winner for Aberdeen in October and a wild 3-3 draw in December. Expect more fireworks, but the hosts' momentum and the added motivation of facing their ex-manager should prove decisive. Our prediction: 2-1 to St Mirren.
