Parma Calcio 1913 vs Genoa CFC

Parma ground out a much-needed 2-1 win over Genoa at the Ennio Tardini, ending a tough opening stretch to the season with their first three points. The hosts made the early running count and never let the visitors settle into any real rhythm despite a second-half scare. David Romero put Parma ahead in the 38th minute with a clinical finish, and it looked comfortable until Milutin Osmajic pulled Genoa level in the 70th, pouncing on a defensive slip to briefly lift the away side. The response didn't last, as Pontus Almqvist restored Parma's lead in the 80th minute, beating his marker for pace to settle the contest. No red cards or penalties, though several yellows were shown on both sides in a scrappy, physical affair. The win lifts Parma off the foot of the table and offers real relief after a difficult start. For Genoa, it's another damaging blow, just one point from five matches leaves them mired in a genuine relegation crisis under mounting pressure.
