OGC Nice vs Stade Rennais

Nice beat Rennes 5-2 at the Allianz Riviera on Friday night, and Elye Wahi scored three of the goals, two of them penalties. It was the kind of night where the home side took nearly every chance it made. Wahi put Nice ahead from the spot in the 12th minute. Sebastian Szymanski levelled three minutes later with a header from a Mahamadou Nagida cross. Nice were awarded a second penalty in the 35th minute after Valentin Rongier fouled Jonathan Clauss, and Wahi converted it. Clauss then scored himself in first-half stoppage time (45+2) when Anthony Rouault lost the ball under pressure from Wahi. Mohammed Amoura made it 4-1 in the 52nd minute, set up by Hicham Boudaoui. Boulaye Dia pulled one back from the spot in the 58th after Nicolas Nkounkou fouled Mousa Al-Tamari, but Wahi completed his hat-trick in the 73rd, finishing a move started by a poor Nagida clearance and Gauthier Hein's pass. A scuffle around the 84th minute brought a handful of yellow cards. The result takes Nice up to seventh in the table after nine rounds. Rennes had come into the game well placed and leave the Riviera with two goals but nothing else.
