Newcastle United vs Hull City

Newcastle put a miserable midweek result behind them with a fast, ruthless start against Hull at St James' Park, racing into a two-goal cushion inside the opening ten minutes and holding on despite a nervy finish. It was the perfect response after their heavy defeat to Leeds just days earlier. Joe Willock opened the scoring in the 3rd minute before Lewis Hall doubled the lead in the 7th, both goals set up by a lively Harvey Barnes. Just before the break, Yoane Wissa saw his penalty saved by Konstantinos Tzolakis after Jacob Murphy had been fouled in the box. Hull rallied after halftime, and substitute Mohamed-Ali Cho pulled one back in the 67th minute, but a leveler never arrived. The win eases pressure on Newcastle and ends Hull's unbeaten start to the season, leaving the Tigers to regroup after their promising early form hit a bump on Tyneside.
