Lyon Survive Rennes Scare to Clinch Crucial Podium Win
Lyon survived a scare to beat Rennes 4-2 in a pulsating Groupama Stadium showdown on Ligue 1 Matchday 32. Endrick's clinical finish on 75 minutes sealed a result that twice threatened to slip away from the hosts.
Rennes struck first through Mousa Al-Tamari on six minutes, but Lyon had turned things around before halftime, Roman Yaremchuk leveling on 37 before Corentin Tolisso converted a penalty on 42. Esteban Lepaul then restored parity early in the second half, assisted by Al-Tamari, only for Afonso Moreira to put Lyon back in front on 53 minutes. Endrick, teed up by Tolisso, finished it off on 75 to end a see-saw contest.
The win extends Lyon's grip on European contention and deals a real blow to Rennes, who arrived level on points with their hosts and leave empty-handed.
