Levski Sofia vs AEK

Levski Sofia and AEK Athens shared a goalless draw in the first leg of their Champions League play-off at Vivacom Arena Georgi Asparuhov. The standout moment was defensive: under Julio Velazquez, Levski Sofia stretched their unbeaten home run to seven matches without conceding, frustrating an AEK Athens side unbeaten in thirteen. There were no goals, cards or penalties to separate the sides. AEK Athens grew into the game after the break, testing the hosts through R. Marin, Zini and F. Relvas from the 53rd minute, prompting Marko Nikolic to send on Varga, Mantalos and Zubkov. Velazquez answered with Perea Sanchez, Soula and Mitkov to see out a tense finish. The stalemate suits Levski Sofia, who have now conceded just once in seven home games and travel to Greece with parity intact. AEK Athens, who reached this stage via late qualifying drama, will fancy their chances of finally finding the net in the second leg.
