SC Freiburg vs Jablonec

Freiburg began their first Conference League league phase with a 3-2 home win over Jablonec, though the margin was tighter than the chances they created suggested. A late goal for the visitors in stoppage time made the finish more anxious than it needed to be. Vincenzo Grifo put the hosts ahead in the 15th minute with a direct free kick from about 17 metres. Jablonec levelled in the 28th minute when a cross from Jiri Slama was deflected past the keeper, and it stayed 1-1 at the break despite Cyriaque Irie and Lukas Kubler both hitting the woodwork early on. In the second half a corner caused trouble and Dusan Pavlovic put the ball into his own net, with the video referee confirming it had crossed the line. Maximilian Eggestein then finished first time in the 65th minute for 3-1. Garang Kuol pulled one back for Jablonec in stoppage time, but Freiburg saw it out. It was Julian Schuster's 100th game in charge, and Freiburg remain unbeaten this season. They visit Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday, then AS Monaco in the Conference League a week later.
