FC Alverca vs Rio Ave

Alverca needed just three minutes to settle this Primeira Liga clash, striking early at home and then managing the game to a 1-0 win over Rio Ave. It was a lightning start that the visitors never recovered from. Dawda Camara poked home a deflected Chiquinho cross in the 3rd minute for his third goal of the season. Bookings flew on both sides, Davy Gui and Simon Garcia early, Francisco Petrasso before halftime, and Andre Vidigal deep into stoppage time, but no red cards or penalties changed the complexion of the match. Rio Ave threw on five substitutes chasing an equalizer and created half-chances, but Alverca's defense held firm, even allowing time for a late goalkeeper change. It's another afternoon without a goal for a Rio Ave side already leaking goals at the other end this season, while Alverca back up their midweek win over Nacional with a second straight victory, easing away from the relegation zone.
