FC Augsburg was founded in 1907 and is based in Augsburg, Bavaria, Germany. A member of the Bundesliga, the club plays its home matches at the WWK Arena, a modern stadium with a capacity of approximately 30,000 fans. Known as the Fuggerstädter, a nod to the famous Fugger banking family that once made Augsburg one of Europe's wealthiest cities, the club earned promotion to the Bundesliga in 2011 and has maintained top-flight status with impressive consistency. FC Augsburg is celebrated for its pragmatic, hard-working style of play and its ability to compete with far wealthier clubs through smart recruitment and collective effort. The team's red, green, and white colors reflect a proud regional identity in one of southern Germany's oldest cities.
