Cusco da Estudiantes

Cusco FC claimed a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Estudiantes de La Plata in Copa Libertadores Group A, surviving a relentless second-half barrage from the visitors at the high-altitude Estadio Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. Lucas Colitto gave the hosts the perfect start on 36 minutes with a crisp left-footed finish, but Tiago Palacios leveled for Estudiantes with another tidy left-footed effort on 57 minutes. The Argentines pushed hard for a winner, hitting the woodwork twice and seeing Facundo Callejo's 83rd-minute volley, which looked destined for the net, ruled out for offside. The point keeps Cusco FC rooted to the bottom of Group A, but a Copa Sudamericana berth remains mathematically possible if results go their way at home. For Estudiantes, two dropped points at altitude are a frustration, though their push for the knockout rounds stays firmly on track.
