الچه مقابل ختافه

Elche claimed a vital 1-0 home win over Getafe at Estadio Martínez Valero, an early goal and a numerical advantage making all the difference in a tense Primera División clash. Víctor Chust opened the scoring in the 19th minute, capitalising on the hosts' bright start. Getafe's afternoon quickly unravelled when defender Dakonam Djene was shown a straight red card in the 39th minute for serious foul play, leaving his side a man down for more than half the match. Elche controlled proceedings comfortably from there, outshot their opponents ten to four, and earned a well-deserved clean sheet. The three points are a lifeline for Elche, who came into the day deep in the relegation zone. For Getafe, it is a painful blow to their European push, and Djene will now serve a suspension at the worst possible moment of the season.
