Zulte Waregem vs Dender

Zulte Waregem claimed a dramatic 2-1 victory over FCV Dender at the Elindus Arena, with an unfortunate own goal from Bryan Goncalves proving the decisive moment in a frantic first half. Goncalves had an afternoon of highs and lows, he gave Dender the lead from the penalty spot in the 24th minute, but then turned the ball into his own net in the 46th to hand Waregem a lead they would not surrender. Marley Aké had equalised for the hosts in the 40th minute. There was VAR drama too: a red card initially shown to Luc Marijnissen in the 22nd minute was overturned on review, and Dender finished with five yellow cards to Waregem's one. The win keeps Waregem top of the Pro League Relegation Round and firmly in control of their own fate. For Dender, sitting fourth, it is a painful setback in their fight to avoid the drop.
