Benfica vs Celtic

Benfica beat Celtic 4-1 at the Estádio da Luz on Thursday night, with Jhon Durán scoring twice and the game effectively settled by half-time. Durán opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a Panenka penalty after Dane Murray caught him from behind. Alexander Bah made it 2-0 in the 23rd, finishing a Gianluca Prestianni cross past Viljami Sinisalo, and Durán got his second from a tight angle at the near post in the 36th. Celtic found a way back after the break. Camilo Durán headed in a Haissem Hassan cross in the 63rd, and the visitors hit the woodwork several times without a second goal arriving. Vangelis Pavlidis rolled in the fourth from the edge of the box in the 89th after a Tomás Araújo pass. Three Benfica players were booked. The defeat leaves Celtic without a point after two matchdays, following their loss to Ferencváros. Benfica follow their win at Milan with a second straight victory and travel to Omonia Nicosia on 22 October. Celtic host Celta Vigo the same day.
