Fluminense vs Coritiba

Fluminense put on a statement performance at the Maracanã, thrashing Coritiba 4-0 behind a commanding hat-trick from Savarino, the Venezuelan forward's second strike a true golazo that flew into the top corner from outside the box. Savarino opened the scoring in the 29th minute from a corner routine, doubled the lead three minutes into the second half, then completed his treble in the 64th with a sharp counter-attacking finish. Lucho Acosta rounded off the rout deep into stoppage time. Coritiba had their own scare early on when a shot crashed off the crossbar, and they lost Jacy to injury after just 23 minutes, a blow they never recovered from. No cards marred the contest. The win lifts Fluminense up to third place on 51 points, keeping Marcão's side firmly in the title conversation. Coritiba, meanwhile, stay in ninth on 38 points, still searching for the away-day resilience that has eluded them this season.
