Clermont Foot 63 is a French professional football club founded in 1911 and based in Clermont-Ferrand, the capital of the Puy-de-Dome department in the Auvergne region of central France. The club plays at the Stade Gabriel-Montpied. Clermont achieved a historic milestone by earning promotion to Ligue 1 for the 2021–22 season, their first-ever appearance in the top flight, where they competed for two consecutive seasons. Known as the Lancers, the club is celebrated for its collective team spirit and tactical discipline that allowed them to punch above their weight against far wealthier opponents. Rooted in the volcanic landscape of the Massif Central, Clermont represents the pride and ambition of a region that has long sought recognition in the elite levels of French football.
