The Chinese Taipei national football team represents Taiwan in international football under the governance of the Chinese Taipei Football Association, affiliated with FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation. Founded in 1936, the team competes in AFC World Cup qualifiers and regional competitions under the Chinese Taipei designation due to political agreements. Chinese Taipei has historically been a developing football nation in Asia, facing strong regional competition. Home matches are typically held at the Taipei Municipal Stadium or other venues across Taiwan. While the team has not yet qualified for a FIFA World Cup or Asian Cup final tournament in recent decades, Chinese Taipei continues to develop football at the grassroots and professional levels, with growing investment in youth academies and coaching programmes to elevate the standard of the national side.
