FC Lorient

FC Lorient was founded in 1926 in the port city of Lorient in Brittany, western France. The club competes in Ligue 1 and plays at the Stade du Moustoir, a compact community stadium with a capacity of around 18,500 fans. Known as les Merlus, a reference to the hake fish central to Lorient's fishing heritage, the club has built a reputation for developing young talent and playing attractive, direct football. Lorient won the Coupe de France in 2002, their greatest achievement in top-flight competition. The club has experienced multiple promotions and relegations but consistently represents its fishing port community with determination and pride. Their orange-and-black colors are proudly worn by supporters who reflect the hard-working, maritime spirit of one of Brittany's most iconic cities.
