The Denmark national football team, nicknamed the Danish Dynamite, is one of Scandinavia's most successful international sides. Governed by the Danish Football Union (DBU) and playing home fixtures at Parken Stadium in Copenhagen (38,065 capacity), Denmark achieved its greatest triumph by winning the UEFA European Championship in 1992 as a last-minute replacement for Yugoslavia. The team has also reached the FIFA World Cup quarter-finals in 1998, led by Peter Schmeichel and Brian Laudrup. In recent decades Denmark has produced world-class players including Michael Laudrup (widely regarded as one of the greatest players of his generation), Preben Elkjær, and in the modern era, Christian Eriksen and Kasper Schmeichel. Under coach Morten Wieghorst, Denmark continues to be a consistent presence in international football's upper echelons.
