The New Caledonia national football team, known as Les Cagous, represents the French special collectivity in international competitions governed by the OFC (Oceania Football Confederation). Though not a FIFA member, New Caledonia has been one of the strongest sides in Oceania, winning the OFC Nations Cup multiple times, including victories in 2008 and 2012. They regularly challenge for Oceanian dominance and have produced talented players who move to French clubs. The team competes in OFC Nations Cup qualifiers and has earned intercontinental play-off berths. Based in Noumea, the squad draws largely from the local league and French-based Caledonian players, with coaches typically hailing from France or local football backgrounds.
