The team competes in AFC qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup and Asian Cup. Hong Kong was once a competitive force in Asian football, reaching the quarter-finals of the 1968 Asian Cup. The team plays its home matches at Hong Kong Stadium in So Kon Po. Notable former players include Chan Siu-ki, who gained recognition through a viral YouTube video.
