Ипсвич Таун против Арсенал

Arsenal eased into the next round of the Carling Cup with a 4-2 win at Portman Road, though a spirited Ipswich fightback in the closing stages briefly threatened to make things uncomfortable for the visitors.

Teenager Max Dowman scored either side of half-time, netting in the 7th and 47th minutes, while Noni Madueke struck in the 16th and Mikel Merino added a fourth in the 58th to put Arsenal firmly in control. Kasey McAteer and Marcelino Nunez picked up yellow cards for Ipswich, who battled back through Anis Mehmeti's 62nd-minute finish and a stoppage-time strike from Chuba Akpom.

The win keeps Arsenal's Carling Cup campaign alive and gave fringe players like Dowman a chance to impress. For Ipswich, there's no shame in the defeat given their response, and the late goals offer something to build on.
