Мексико против Чиле

Chile left Los Angeles with a comfortable 2-0 win over Mexico at the Memorial Coliseum, holding firm against a host side that started brightly but couldn't find the net. The standout moment came early, when keeper Vigouroux somehow denied a thumping Roberto Alvarado strike to keep things level. Maximiliano Gutierrez broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, finishing off a quick counter started by Gonzalo Tapia, and Vicente Pizarro doubled the lead in the 65th after pouncing on a defensive error. Mexico threw on five substitutes around the hour mark chasing a way back, but yellow cards for Jesus Gallardo and E. Lopez told the story of a shaky defense instead. The result leaves Mexico winless in four straight matches under new coach Rafael Márquez, a squad already thin on options with several regulars out injured or suspended. Chile, meanwhile, grabbed a much-needed confidence boost on the road as it tries to rebuild after missing the World Cup.
