Celtic beat Hearts 7-1 at Celtic Park on Sunday, with five of the goals arriving before the interval. It was a quick start that set the tone, with two goals inside the opening ten minutes. Kieran Tierney scored in the 7th minute and Benjamin Nygren added a second in the 10th. Callum Osmand struck in the 36th and again two minutes later. Laurent Mendy pulled one back for Hearts in the 41st, but Jamie McCart put through his own net in first-half stoppage time to make it 5-1. Camilo Duran scored in the 49th and Nygren got his second in the 83rd. There were no red cards or penalties. The win followed a 4-1 defeat to Benfica in midweek, which had put pressure on Martin O'Neill. Celtic started the day top on 21 points, with Hearts third on 16. Celtic had won seven of their first eight league games before this one.
