رئال سوسیداد مقابل اتلتیک بیلبائو

Athletic Bilbao edged a tense Euskal Herria Txapela final at Anoeta, beating Real Sociedad 1-0 in a friendly dominated by Basque pride rather than league points. The breakthrough finally came well into the second half, rewarding Athletic's control after a goalless, cagey opening period. The decisive moment arrived in the 58th minute, when Maroan Sannadi rose for a diving header at the near post from a left-wing free kick, sending the travelling Athletic fans into celebration. Real Sociedad had earlier seen a goal from Johaneko disallowed for handball, while Athletic also had a penalty appeal waved away before the opener. Aihen later had a goal ruled out for offside as the match opened up, with Real Sociedad goalkeeper doing well to keep the gap at one. For Athletic, it's a fourth Euskal Herria Txapela crown and a confidence boost built on control of midfield and a clinical set piece. Real Sociedad, despite pushing hard for an equalizer late on, leave empty-handed from a fixture that carried extra emotion with a pre-match tribute to late coach Mikel Etxarri.
