Trabzonspor vs Freiburg

Freiburg won 1-0 at Trabzonspor in the Conference League on Thursday night, and the game was settled inside a quarter of an hour. The visitors then spent the rest of the evening keeping the lead. Lukas Kübler scored the only goal in the 14th minute. Igor Matanović headed a corner towards goal, André Onana could only parry it, and Kübler followed up to put the rebound in. Mohamed Salah had the best of the home chances, including a free kick that went over and a 61st-minute effort that Mio Backhaus saved. Backhaus also stopped another Salah shot in stoppage time after a header from Chibuike Nwaiwu. Five players were booked, two for Trabzonspor and three for Freiburg. The result lifts Freiburg to 11th in the league phase, inside a seeded play-off place, for their second win in the competition. Trabzonspor stay eighth, just inside the automatic last-16 places, with three games left. Freiburg play Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Sunday, and Trabzonspor go to Alanyaspor in the Süper Lig the same day.
