โคลอมเบีย vs เปรู

Colombia closed out their October international break with a composed 2-0 win over Peru, turning a tight affair into a comfortable one once the visitors were reduced to ten men in the second half. The hosts dominated possession throughout and made their control count in the closing stages. Samuel Velasquez broke the deadlock in the 57th minute, smashing home his first international goal from long range after a loose rebound fell his way. Peru's night worsened soon after when substitute Miguel Araujo was sent off, just minutes after coming on, leaving his side to play out the rest of the match a man short. Daniel Arcila added gloss to the scoreline deep into stoppage time, curling in a deflected effort for his own first senior goal. For Colombia, it was a confidence-boosting finish to the break and a chance to blood emerging attacking talent. Peru created early openings but faded badly once down to ten, leaving plenty to address before their next fixtures.
