Polokwane vs Kaizer Chiefs

Polokwane City salvaged a point at home against Kaizer Chiefs, with a costly own goal from goalkeeper Brandon Petersen cancelling out an early Amakhosi lead. Chiefs controlled long spells of the match but couldn't turn dominance into a cushion, and it was Petersen's own blunder that ultimately levelled things up. Kaizer Chiefs broke the deadlock in the 28th minute when Lebohang Maboe tapped in a Pule Mmodi cross from close range. Polokwane City drew level in the 72nd minute courtesy of Petersen's own goal. Yellow cards were shown to Surprise Manthosi (46'), Banele Mnguni (60'), and Mmodi (72'), with Petersen also called upon to save headers from Ndamulelo Maphangule earlier in the game. Chiefs coach Fernando da Cruz made defensive changes at the break, introducing Bradley Cross and Reeve Frosler, but his side couldn't force a winner despite late pressure. The result leaves Chiefs frustrated after dominating possession without reward, while Polokwane, playing their third match in six days, will be pleased to grind out a point against tougher opposition.
