Sporting CP vs Moreirense

Sporting CP won 1-0 against Moreirense at Alvalade on Saturday, and Paulo Fonseca got a win in his first match as head coach. He took over from Rui Borges, who was dismissed the previous Sunday. Luis Suárez scored the only goal in the 61st minute. He cut inside onto his left foot at the edge of the box and finished. Before that, Sporting CP had hit the post through Silas Andersen and seen Nestory Irankunda's shot cleared off the line. A goal from Irankunda just after the restart was ruled out for offside by about 8 centimetres after a VAR check. There were no cards. Suárez was taken off in the 75th minute because another yellow would have ruled him out of the FC Porto game. Moreirense had a late chance when Manuel Mendonça was denied by Kaique in the 81st minute. Sporting CP are third on 24 points, one behind Benfica and six behind Porto. Moreirense stay ninth on 14.
