Schalke vs RB Leipzig

RB Leipzig picked up their first away win of the Bundesliga season, beating Schalke 2-0 in Gelsenkirchen on matchday 8 despite a string of saves from home keeper Loris Karius. The game turned on a penalty. In the 31st minute Satoshi Tanaka took too long on the ball in his own box and Rômulo was brought down as he reached for it. Referee Max Burda pointed to the spot and the decision stood. Antonio Nusa converted low into the left corner in the 37th minute. Just before the break Rômulo thought he had added a second, but the VAR found the ball had gone out of play before David Raum crossed, and the goal was ruled out. Leipzig got the second in the 78th minute. Tidiam Gomis carried the ball forward and found Nusa, who set up Rômulo to shoot past Nikola Katic into the right corner. Karius still made several saves and was named man of the match by the fans, with 46 percent of the vote. Timo Becker and Adil Aouchiche were booked for Schalke. Leipzig move up to fourth. Schalke stay 16th and have now gone five Bundesliga games without a win.
