Espanyol vs Atl. Madrid

Álex Baena scored in the 89th minute at the RCDE Stadium to give Atlético Madrid a 1-0 win away to Espanyol in Round 9 of LaLiga on Saturday. The goal came after a long spell in which neither side could find a way through. Julián Álvarez provided the assist and Baena finished it, one minute from the end of normal time and with the game heading for a goalless draw. Baena had been booked for dissent in the 68th minute, so he scored with a yellow card already against his name. It was a bad-tempered game. Atlético Madrid had five players cautioned: Morten Hjulmand (22nd minute), Kang-In Lee (43rd), Cristian Romero (66th), Baena and Rodrigo Mendoza (79th). Espanyol collected two of their own, Roger Hinojo in the 79th minute and Unai Núñez in the 82nd. Atlético leave Cornellà with three points from a game that was level until the 89th minute. Espanyol take nothing from their Round 9 home match.
