Osasuna vs Espanyol

Espanyol made light work of a difficult trip to Pamplona, striking twice inside the opening quarter-hour to leave Osasuna chasing the game from the start. Despite dominating possession for long spells, the hosts never found a way back, and Espanyol held on comfortably for their first away win of the season. Roberto Fernández did the damage, opening the scoring in the 3rd minute after a cross from Marcos Fernández, then doubling the lead in the 17th minute after being picked out by Omar El Hilali down the flank. Rubén García thought he'd pulled one back for Osasuna, but the effort was chalked off for offside. Both sides picked up yellow cards in a feisty midfield battle, though nobody saw red, and Espanyol's back line, marshalled well by Dmitrović, held firm even as Osasuna pushed hard after the break. The result leaves both clubs level on seven points, with Osasuna 11th and Espanyol climbing to 7th. For Espanyol, it's a statement of their ability to win away from home under pressure, while Osasuna will be frustrated at squandering their territorial dominance without troubling the scoreboard.
