Waregem vs Gent

Gent made it eight matches unbeaten with a 0-2 win at Waregem, though the visitors had to wait until stoppage time to put the game fully to bed. The standout moment arrived early and painfully for the hosts, as a goalkeeping mix-up handed Gent the opener inside twelve minutes. Ibrahima Cissé struck in the 12th minute after Brent Gabriël fumbled a long throw-in while being hindered by his own defender, gifting Gent an easy tap-in. Waregem's night got worse when Malick Mbaye was sent off in the 75th minute following a VAR review for a sliding challenge on Leonardo Lopes Da Silva, leaving his side to see out the final quarter a man down. With ten men, Waregem held firm until deep into injury time, when Michel Ange Balikwisha headed home a cross from Max Dean to make it 0-2 in the 92nd minute. The result sends Gent back to the top of the table, extending their unbeaten run this season, while Waregem stay eighth, still searching for answers after another frustrating scoreless night at home.
