AS Roma pulled off a grandstand finish at the Olimpico, turning a second-half deficit into victory with two goals in the dying minutes against Atalanta. For long stretches it looked like Gian Piero Gasperini's men would hold on, but Roma's late surge stole all three points and had the home crowd in disbelief. Atalanta broke the deadlock early in the second half through Ederson in the 47th minute, and their defense, marshaled by a busy Carnesecchi in goal, looked set to see it through. Instead, Mario Hermoso rose to head home a corner right on the 90-minute mark to level things, and just three minutes later Matías Soulé slammed in the winner to complete the turnaround. Tempers flared after the whistle, with Atalanta's Gaetano sent off for protesting once play had already ended. The result keeps Roma perfect through three rounds and sends them to the top of the table, a statement response after being outplayed for large periods. For Atalanta, it's a bitter first defeat of the season, undone in the cruelest way after seemingly having the game under control.
