Argentina vs Honduras

Argentina made it a comfortable evening in College Station, Texas, beating Honduras 2-0 at Kyle Field in a pre-World Cup friendly. Lautaro Martínez was the game's central figure, both scoring and setting up a goal, as the reigning world champions cruised through without Lionel Messi in the lineup. Martínez broke the deadlock from the spot in the 37th minute after Giovanni Lo Celso's shot struck the post and a foul was awarded inside the box. He then turned provider just after the break, teeing up Giuliano Simeone with a deft backheel in the 54th minute for a straightforward finish. Messi sat out as coach Lionel Scaloni managed his calf injury, yet Argentina still dominated with 71 percent possession. For Argentina, it was a polished tune-up ahead of the 2026 World Cup, which kicks off on June 11. Honduras, who did not qualify for the tournament, showed resilience but were ultimately outclassed by the defending champions.
