Bottom-of-the-table Heidenheim produced a stunning double comeback, twice fighting back from behind to snatch a 3-3 draw with Bayer Leverkusen. Marvin Pieringer's towering 85th-minute header completed the fightback at the Voith-Arena. Malik Tillman's elegant volley (22') and a Patrik Schick header (35') had the visitors cruising at two-nil. Patrick Mainka pulled one back on 54 minutes before Pieringer levelled from the penalty spot after Robert Andrich bundled him over in the box. Schick restored Leverkusen's lead with his second header of the afternoon on 72 minutes, nodding in from an Alejandro Grimaldo corner. But Pieringer had the final say, powering home from a set piece five minutes from time to seal a dramatic point. The draw keeps 18th-placed Heidenheim rooted to the bottom on 15 points, but the fighting spirit will give their fans a rare lift. Sixth-placed Leverkusen have now won just once in nine games across all competitions — a worrying slide as they chase European qualification.
