Machida vs Urawa Reds

Machida made it three wins from three to open the season, beating Urawa Reds 3-1 at a packed MUFG Stadium in front of nearly 48,000 fans. The standout moment came early, with Machida's long-throw routine setting up the opener inside the first ten minutes, a trademark tactic that continues to cause problems for J1 defenses. Nakamura converted from the resulting scramble in the 8th minute, but Urawa hit back right on the stroke of halftime through Watanabe, who finished a one-on-one chance in first-half stoppage time to make it 1-1. Machida seized control after the break, with Nishimura restoring the lead in the 54th minute before Ravi added a clinical finish from a corner rebound in the 61st to put the game to bed. No cards or penalties disrupted the flow of the match. The result keeps Machida perfect through three rounds and firmly atop the table, backing up big wins of 5-1 and 4-0 with yet another multi-goal display. For Urawa, it's a third straight loss to open the campaign and a growing defensive headache, having now shipped 11 goals in three matches, a alarming trend they'll need to fix quickly to avoid an early-season crisis.
