The Lebanon national football team, governed by the Lebanese Football Association, has been competing under FIFA since 1935. Based in Beirut, Lebanon competes in the AFC's qualifying rounds for the FIFA World Cup and the AFC Asian Cup. The team achieved a landmark result by qualifying for the AFC Asian Cup 2000, their most notable tournament appearance. Lebanon has faced considerable challenges due to regional instability but has continued developing football through domestic leagues and international friendlies. Notable players include Abbas Chahrour and Roda Antar, who raised Lebanon's profile in European football. The squad draws from domestic clubs and the Lebanese diaspora worldwide. In recent years the national team has shown improvement under various coaching stints, targeting a return to the AFC Asian Cup finals.
