Flamengo claimed a pivotal Fla-Flu victory at the Maracanã on Sunday, beating Fluminense 2-1 in Brasileirão Round 11. Pedro was the undeniable hero, delivering a brace that turned the city derby firmly in the visitors' favor. The striker broke the deadlock in just the 7th minute, capitalizing on a wayward outlet pass from goalkeeper Fábio and burying a long-range effort. Pedro doubled the advantage early in the second half, before Savarino reduced the deficit for Fluminense in the 76th minute, catching Rossi off his line. Carrascal was then shown a straight red card in stoppage time for a reckless challenge on Guga, though the result was already beyond doubt. The win lifted Flamengo to second in the Brasileirão table on goal difference, level on points with their rivals, and with a game in hand, while Fluminense suffer a damaging home defeat in the title race.
