Sevilla and Alaves finished 0-0 at the Sanchez-Pizjuan on Friday night, and the best chance of the game fell to the home side from the spot. Antonio Sivera guessed the right way to keep out Ruben Vargas in the 31st minute. The penalty was given on 29 minutes for a foul by Angel Perez on Correia, a decision one report called very doubtful. Pablo Ibanez was booked for protesting. Sivera later stopped efforts from Juan Iglesias and, in the 91st minute, Lucas Stassin. At the other end Odysseas Vlachodimos saved shots from Ville Koski and Antonio Blanco. Sevilla had 11 shots to Alaves's eight and 57 per cent of the ball. The evening began with a minute of silence for Tenerife player Jesus de Miguel, who died this week. Both teams wore commemorative shirts, and there was applause in the ninth minute, his shirt number. The point leaves Sevilla sixth on 18 points, with Alaves ninth on 13.
