Mauritania
The Mauritania national football team, known as the Mourabitounes, is governed by the Fédération de Football de la République Islamique de Mauritanie and affiliated with both FIFA and the Confederation of African Football. A significant milestone came when Mauritania qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 2019, making their continental debut in Egypt. They followed this achievement by qualifying again for AFCON 2021 and 2023, establishing themselves as a rising force in West African football. The team plays home matches at the Stade Olympique in Nouakchott. Key players such as Adama Ba and Hemeya Tanjy have been central to the team's recent progress. Mauritania's continued qualification campaigns reflect the growing infrastructure and passion for football across the country.
