The Hong Kong national football team, competing under the banner of Hong Kong, China, is governed by the Hong Kong Football Association, one of the oldest football associations in Asia, founded in 1914. The team competes in AFC qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup and Asian Cup. Hong Kong was once a competitive force in Asian football, reaching the quarter-finals of the 1968 Asian Cup. The team plays its home matches at Hong Kong Stadium in So Kon Po. Notable former players include Chan Siu-ki, who gained recognition through a viral YouTube video. With a growing semi-professional league and increased investment in youth development, Hong Kong continues to work toward improving its competitive standing in Asian continental football competitions.
