Sport-Club Freiburg was founded in 1904 and is based in Freiburg im Breisgau in Baden-Württemberg, southwestern Germany. The club competes in the Bundesliga and plays at the Europa-Park Stadion, a state-of-the-art arena that opened in 2021 with a capacity of around 34,700 spectators. Known as the Breisgau-Brasilianer, a playful nickname highlighting their fluid, attacking style, Freiburg is one of German football's great success stories. Historically operating on modest budgets, the club has repeatedly punched above its weight, even qualifying for European competition. Manager Christian Streich led the side for over a decade, becoming a beloved figure in German football. Wearing red, white, and black, Freiburg represents sustainability, smart management, and the enduring power of community-rooted football in one of Germany's most beautiful cities.
