AC Milan beat Inter 3-1 at San Siro in the Serie A derby, and they were two goals up inside ten minutes. It was Inter's first league defeat of the season, and they had started the day top of the table. Christian Pulisic headed in a cross from Diego Moreira in the 4th minute. Six minutes later Adrien Rabiot finished first time from a short corner routine. Alessandro Bastoni pulled one back in the 22nd minute, heading in from six yards after a flick from Manuel Akanji. Just before the break, in the 43rd, Moreira curled a free kick into the near corner. He had a hand in all three Milan goals. There were no goals after the interval. Inter pushed harder in the last 20 minutes but created little, and Mike Maignan made saves from Djed Spence and Hakan Calhanoglu. A penalty for handball in the 75th minute was overturned by VAR, which showed the ball hit Mario Gila's chest. It was Milan's fourth derby win in a row, and it followed a 4-2 midweek loss to Bologna.
